Before moving into this house, I had no idea how to grow my own food. We were so fortunate to get a house with established foliage and trees, but for many setbacks, we didn’t reap quite the fruit and berry harvest we’d expected. Our largest triumph by far has been our beautiful peaches.

I was shocked at how many plump, ripe peaches survived the squirrel and bird attacks. When I went to pick some sweet jewels, a shit head squirrel chucked his half eaten peach at me from his perch, narrowly missing my head.

Look at those little beady eyes and his large, peach fed body. I yelled at him and he proceeded to yell back. Then, I screamed and shook the tree, as one does when rationally dealing with feisty rodents.

Not to worry, I was able to rescue most of the unadulterated peaches amid the squirrel onslaughts.

These are the best peaches I’ve ever tasted, by faaaaar. They are plump, juicy, and delectably sweet. I have so many plans for them; peach cobbler, peach jam, peach vodka. Stay tuned for recipes!
