Vintage Pyrex Lead Test

About a week ago, I posted about my research on vintage Pyrex emitting lead, or more specifically, the decoration on the outside of the famous bowls. I got a melange of responses either confirming that vintage Pyrex is safe or that can be harmful. So naturally, I turned to Instagram. I posted a poll on my story on Instagram (@maegoeswestblog) which allows viewers to vote yes or no on some question. I was so excited to see what responses I would get.

As it turned out, there was an even tie between it is harmful and it is not harmful *eye roll*. I decided I had to test it for myself. My dad sent me a lead test kit in the mail because he is interested in the results. I am so excited to find out for myself! I will swab multiple places a few times to see if the Q-tip turns pink. I will post my results next week. Stay tuned! 🙂

What side of the fence are you on — vintage Pyrex forever or nix all vintage Pyrex?

Hi! I’m new here, did you ever get your pyrex lead results or post them?? I get worried over this every few mo ths and start researching—all the ‘pyrex is poison’ stuff seems to come from one lady though, with questionable methods. I was so excited to find someone doing their own testing recently!

Hi Caylee! First of all, thank you for asking this! I wrote the post and planned to publish it last month, but because of a slight typo (2022 instead of 2021), the post has been living in my drafts. I have now published it so you should be able to view it. Let me know what you think of the results — I’m so curious!
